A single clear aligner is designed to apply pressure to teeth and create a small amount of movement. The next clear aligner follows on from the previous clear aligner, and creates a little bit more movement. Over the course of several clear aligners, teeth are eventually shifted into their final desired positions to get straight teeth and a beautiful smile.
A special digital camera is first used to scan a mould of the teeth into the computer. The computer is then used to calculate the ideal final location of the teeth, and each individual aligner is digitally designed to help reach the desired position with absolute accuracy.
Treatment using clear aligner therapy often takes slightly longer than conventional braces, but varies depending on the types of movements required to obtain the desired result.
