The bleach can only be obtained from a dental health practitioner, as determined by the Therapeutic Goods Administration.
Tooth whitening only works on natural teeth, and does not have any effect any dental fillings or dental prosthesis (veneers, crowns, bridges, dentures, implants). While the results of whitening are often very good, the results cannot be guaranteed.
Tooth whitening can be performed at home with a little whitening tray filled with bleach, used for an hour or two every day for a number of weeks.
Alternatively, tooth whitening can be performed in the dental chair, using a more concentrated bleach and a special type of light to activate the bleach – this usually takes about 1 hour.
