Retrieving Impacted Teeth with Orthodontics
Impacted teeth are teeth that are blocked from coming in to the mouth properly, and can cause significant damage to nearby teeth. It is possible to use braces to correct this.
Look at the final picture showing all 4 of the canines in the perfect position, with the upper and lower teeth locking together in for a healthy bite.
NM presented to us with 4 of his baby teeth still in his mouth at 19 years of age and they weren’t loose enough for him to try and “wobble out” himself. He also knew his adult teeth were coming through behind, like “shark teeth” and knew something was not right.
After assessment with ‘digital dentistry’, it was determined that all 4 of his canines were impacted (or blocked from coming in to the mouth) AND they were also rotated or “twisted” within his jaw. One of the lower canines was stuck within the gums – a small exposure was performed to allow this tooth to come through. Braces were bonded to the teeth and then all canines had little buttons glued to them to help derotate and also pull them into the correct position.
