About The Presenter

Dr. Alex Loh

Dr. Alex Loh began performing orthodontic treatment in 2008 doing simple anterior corrections with removable appliances, progressing to full arch cases using fixed appliances in 2012 after completing a 2 year orthodontic course.

He has since completed many other extended (1-2 year) orthodontic courses located both in Australia and internationally. He completed his Graduate Diploma of Clinical Dentistry (Orthodontics) in 2018 and is currently completing his Masters of Clinical Dentistry (Orthodontics) through the University of Bolton. He is also a Fellow of, and is in the process of becoming a Diplomate in, the International Association for Orthodontics.

Alex has observed and provided treatment utilising the changing schools of thought within orthodontics over the years. He understands that there are variations in approaches to orthodontic treatment, which while different, are all acceptable in the profession. He aims to help practitioners truly grasp the concept of diagnosis and treatment planning, so they can offer a greater range of treatment options for patients; and help carry practitioners through their orthodontic cases.

Dr. Darshan Thumar

Dr Darshan Thumar fell in love with orthodontics during his dental school. Since then he has been attending several long and short term orthodontic courses and seminars in Australia. This also then lead to achieving his Fellowship in orthodontics from the International Association of Orthodontics in 2018. He has been providing support for general dentists with a special interest in orthodontics since the beginning of 2019.

Darshan is passionate about treating all types of patients with different treatment modalities like braces, aligners or removable appliances in multi disciplinary approach to achieve not only straight teeth but teeth that are in harmony with the face and smile. He has a strong interest in early intervention for kids with developing crowded teeth and bad oral habits.

Dr. Shammi Moopen

Dr Shammi Moopen first started comprehensive orthodontic treatment with fixed and functional appliances in 2012 under the mentorship of an orthodontist, while also enrolled in a 2 year orthodontic course in the UK.

His practice was limited to orthodontics until he moved to Melbourne 2 years ago. He now provides a wide range of orthodontic treatment using the different treatment philosophies within orthodontics to deliver treatment that best meets the patient’s needs.

His aim is to help students consider all the treatment options available for each, allowing them to choose the one that suits both the clinician and the patient.
