This is a series of THREE 3-day courses on Restorative Implantology, and an optional 4th day for Modules 2 and 3 on Implant Surgical Guide Design using CoDiagnostiX software. This course contains both didactic and practical components, and the content is strongly evidence-based, aiding the clinical operator to have confidence that their procedures have been validated by research. The three modules cover:
  • Module 1 – Single Unit Implant Restorations (two dates of this module are available)
  • Module 2 – Multi Unit Implant Restorations; and optional single/multi-unit guided surgery component
  • Module 3 – Full Arch Implant Restorations; and optional full arch guided surgery component.

Module 3 covers full arch fixed AND removable implant supported prostheses. This includes:

  • Significance of centric relation;
  • Determining vertical dimension, occlusal plane, and smile arc for function and aesthetics;
  • Difference between and significance of implant protected, bilateral balanced, and lingualized occlusion for full arch prostheses;
  • Use of alveolectomy for surgical and prosthetic movement of transition lines for improved aesthetics and lip support;
  • Fixed implant-supported prosthesis designs (prosthetic vs. natural gingivae);
  • Differences between implant-retained and implant-supported removable prostheses;
  • Differences in movement between Locator/ball vs. telescopic abutments resulting in different prosthesis designs;
  • Designing open palate removable maxillary full arch prostheses without creating air leakage when speaking;
  • Relining removable prostheses with Locator/ball attachments vs. bar/clips;
  • Materials available for full arch prostheses and how they differ from single and multi-unit prostheses;
  • Understanding novel approaches to mandibular full arch restorations (NovumTM, TrefoilTM);
  • Design principles and attachment positioning on bars for implant-supported prostheses to improve stability;
  • Overcoming anatomical limitations (sinus or IAN involvement) using tilted implants and angled abutments.

Hands-on exercises (not all are listed):

  1. Correcting angulation using angled body screw-retained abutments;
  2. Conversion of upper full denture to screw-retained implant supported fixed provisional;
  3. Conversion of lower full denture Locator retained removable provisional;
  4. Direct modification of fixed provisional post-soft tissue healing;
  5. Relining of Locator retained removable provisional;
  6. Occlusion adjustment of full arch prostheses;
  7. Dealing with prosthetic screw fractures in straight and angled body screw-retained abutments.

Covers full arch implant surgical guide design. This includes:

  • Dual scan technique for CBCT acquisition and guide fabrication;
  • Constructing radiographic stents on existing implants to use as guide supports;
  • Advanced skills using CoDiagnostiX implant planning software;
  • Critical concepts regarding tissue-supported guides;
  • Using the proposed restoration to drive surgical procedures, including alveolectomies;
  • Correct use and positioning of fixation pins for guide stabilization;
  • Using sequential guides for full clearance and full arch restorations;
  • Designing stackable guides for full arch restorations:
    • Base layer as a guide for alveolectomy level;
    • Interchangeable stacked guided layers;
    • Incorporation of magnets to stabilize stacked guided layers;
  • Methods to position guide base layer in partially dentate and completely edentulous cases.

CoDiagnostiX software is provided for practical exercises during the course.

  • Each module $3600 incl. GST (+ $475 incl. GST for guided surgery add-on)
  • Includes lunch and refreshments.
  • 10% early bird discount for each module if paid at least 30 days in advance of each module’s course date.
  • 25% discount if attending all 3 modules and paid before 15th February 2024.
  • This course is compliant with current DBA guidelines on CPD.
