– Graduated with a Bachelor in Dental Science with Honours in 2015
Dr. Steven joined eDentistry because he was very impressed by the practice’s focus on evidence-based treatment, transparency and accountability, and the incorporation of digital technology. He’s always been in awe of how quickly technology has changed the world including dentistry and this seemed like the perfect place to be.
If you are an anxious patient, Steven can help! As a fickle patient himself, he tries his utmost to make his patients feel comfortable and cared for, and was told by his very first patient here the way he gives anesthetic is the best she’s ever had! He intends to keep this streak going. We all know so many people who have had a rough time with dentistry in the past and he is determined to introduce you to a different kind of experience. His approach is to be open and honest about the situation, let you make your own decisions about what kind of care you want and then get you where you want to go with minimal fuss and maximum comfort. Finally, Steven has a strong belief the best repair is the one you never need to have in the first place, so he’s always keen to put on a detective hat and do a bit of thinking so that the causes of your problems are properly addressed.
He graduated with top honours from the University of Queensland in 2015 and has continued to be interested in learning from and inspired by the best minds in the field ever since through many hours of post-university education. So far, Steven has been immersed in general dentistry and has a broad skill set including thorough examinations, children’s visits, fillings, endodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery, dentures and cosmetic work. His guiding ideal is to have the skills to allow his patients to get for what they want out of their care, whether that just be to stay healthy or to a brilliant smile.
Outside of work Steven likes to swim, play the piano, snowboard, ski, badminton and travel. He’s also partial to many different kinds of music and is currently belatedly catching up with the Office on Netflix. He’s spent time in New Zealand, Japan, Korea, Nepal, Morocco, Turkey and Spain to name a few and hopefully with many more to come! Finally, Steven has an interest in stoic philosophy, art and reading. Some of his favourite books include A Bigger Prize, Sapiens, Happy (Derren Brown) and The Paper Menagerie and Other Stories. He’s always on the hunt for more good reads so all recommendations are welcome!
